Sushi was great but service wasn't so great, I asked for eel sauce and got completely forgotten within 2 seconds and waiters played in their phones taking pictures of the score board.

Been here a couple of times now, both times with a coupon. Though I like Ninja Spinning Sushi (right around the corner), Yokohama provides a quieter spot with more attentive service, and many more made-to-order options. The menu is large with a lot of healthy, non-rice sushi options, which I love! Why fill up on rice? I mean, it's just a filler anyway. You can find coupons on LocalDines.com and the Palm Beach County coupon book OR swing in here during Happy Hour which is 7 days per week from 4pm to close. They've got good deals on a lot of their sushi as well as drinks. Also, it pays to drive to the back of the building where there is a parking lot, as opposed to driving around to find curb parking. We'll swing in here again when we're in the area.

As you can tell from its 2-1/2 star rating, this place is nothing special. The decor gets zero stars, the food is barely acceptable. The tea is made from powder, the crabmeat is imitation, and the fish eggs aren't fish eggs. But my biggest grievance is the dishonesty. I bought a Restaurant.com coupon. When I presented it, they told me they wouldn't honor it because most of what we ordered was from the special or half price menu. My wife ordered a sushi sashimi combo for $14.00, it didn't qualify for the Restaurant.com because it was 50% off the regular price of $28.00. Nobu would be embarrassed to charge $28.00 for this small serving of mediocre fish. Half price doesn't mean much when full price would be ripoff expensive. Then claiming that because it's a special promotion they won't honor the coupon I paid for, is adding insult to injury. I'll never go back, so I guess I'll have to chalk up the waste of paying for a coupon, to experience.

The wait staff seemed annoyed at the fact that we were a group of three college-aged students, which was unexpected. The friend I was with raved about this place, but it's just alright. The rolls are very cheap, which is a plus, but I'd rather pay a little extra to eat somewhere else. It's a very tiny restaurant, but wasn't very busy, so there was available seating. Parking can definitely be a pain, as it is on such a small lot off of Federal Highway. I'd possibly revisit it if I was really craving sushi, and had nothing but change to my name, but then again, I could go to Publix and get the same rolls for the same price, but seemingly better/fresher fish quality.
(3)Paul L.
it's not bad, service sucks at times, food is cheap, usually fast from order to delivery. I think the sushi is good. Good for a college town, bad for you rich people.
(4)Margo G.
Diego is amazing. He was on top of everything and he made our dining experience very enjoyable. If you have him as a server, your eel sauce will come immediately after you order it. Other servers will forget. He did not and I hope he is my server next time.

This is is what a dive bar would look and taste like if it served Sushi instead of Alcohol. Exaggeration? No, I mean it literally. When you walk in, the first thing you (should) notice is the divey sticky floor. Next is the many Polaroid-ish pictures lined up and down the walls and small tube television. Beside the 1997 TV is the disco light. The only thing missing is a smoke filled back area with a pool table and an iPod pumping music. The sushi (much like a dive bar) is very affordable and considering the portions is a true value proposition (like a dive bar). The sushi was average at best, I'm not sure how fresh the fish was (I went extra heavy on soy since I lost faith in the cleanliness of the kitchen given the sticky "never been mopped since the beginning of time" feel of the floor). If you attend FAU or are low on cash and want sushi then eat here...if not...eat at your own risk.
(1)Al B.
Even the rice was not fresh. Many other better options locally, even Publix much better. Would not recommend.
(1)Sue K.
The place is small so I don't suggest a big group of people.

My mother and I stopped by on a whim on a quiet Wednesday evening...needless to say I wish I had checked yelp before sitting down. We had a nice young man for a server, but the rest of the staff (female manager and server) were COMPLETELY rude. But, unfortunately, service isn't even their worst quality. Between the two of us we ordered the JB roll, edamame, tempura roll, and spicy crab roll- these really aren't things that are easy to mess up. This BY FAR is the worst quality of, not only sushi, but food in general that I've ever even attempted to eat. The salmon tasted nothing like salmon and all the rolls were falling apart. I told the female server in the nicest way possible (after not even eating more than half the food) that the sushi was terrible and she laughed and walked away. I find myself wondering why/how this place is even open. Stay far away from this one and spend your money elsewhere!!!

Tonight I found a dead bug in my water. This is the second incident I have with them. I've been here several times and never had an issue except today and one other time when their sushi made me and my boyfriend sick. We shared the food that day and it made us both vomit.... After finding a bug in my drink - which by the way had NO wings - which means it didn't just "fly" into my drink, they just gave me a new water ? No apology, no compensation, nothing. When I asked for some of my bill to be discounted they offered me a free dessert... I am not very pleased to say the least!
(1)Lisa G.
NO STAR.. This place is for the bargain hunters sushi.. You pay for cheap sushi you get cheap sushi. The service was horrible.. No one in place when we walked in.. 37 minutes for 3 rolls and fried rice.. Needless to say, all three rolls were not tempura, there was no cooking involved.. Stay far away. Don't say you were not warned.. Powder green ice tea ? Ugh.. Ps it won't let me review without placing a star.. Lol
(1)Chris D.
Good prices on food and drinks, especially for happy hour. Unimpressed with service and overall quality of the food though. It wasn't bad, but nothing to boast about. Only reason I keep coming back is because they're the only place in the area I can get sushi from after midnight!
(3)Kylie C.
Hey! I don't think Yokohama is all that bad! I've always enjoyed myself and the sushi here.. well at the East Boca location. Their environment is great and they have great pricing, a half price menu and two beers will get you a free sake! yum. They did burn down not too long ago, which was tragic but I definitely think they deserve more credit now that there back up and running!
(3)Caitlin N.
yokohama is always my go-to, though I understand why they only have three stars. negatives: at times the service can be slow and the extra charges can be silly. if you order hot green tea, you get a big ol' pot of tea for only $1.50 yay! but if you want to share with friends...you're gonna pay $1.50 for each additional cup, even though it's from the same pot. kinda strange, but whatever I don't usually share tea anyway. positives: sushi good. sushi cheap. sushi under flashing neon lights. sushi until 2am.
(5)Katie S.
Discussing I worked there please don't eat there please please please shit is so old and frozen!!!! All the fish is farmfish and your green tea is powder omg they need serious help
(1)Michelle C.
This is my favorite sushi spot. The best signature rolls, great atmosphere and service. Everything is always fresh! Absolutely love this place.
(5)Patrick C.
On several occasions now I have ordered take out off of the half price menu and go pick it up. They then proceed to tell me that the rolls I ordered are not half priced and then play the fool when I show them the online menu (e.g., "That is not our menu). Bottom line, they are slightly manipulative so watch out PS anyone else notice that their whitefish is brown?
(1)David C C.
Awesome price and good food. Came when opening in the morning and the place was dirty inside and they were taking trash out which tells me they didn't clean right the night before. Good for college students.
(2)J. I.
It's not the best sushi in Boca, but it's the best value. The service is ok, the food is great. The difficulty they have is that they get a bit of the crowd that comes in with Morimoto expectations and McDonalds dollar menu budget. In the last several years, before and after the fire, i have dined here easily over 100 times (i generally go once every couple weeks, sometimes more sometimes less) and have never encountered anything egregious. Poor service a few times. A couple times where my order was incorrect, but never bad food. I've been fortunate enough to travel a bit and I have had some great sushi at some amazing places. This is not among them, but it's a great place for cheap but good sushi. Excellent value.
(5)Jay D.
so many better choices in east boca. why go here? third and last time. 3 strikes..your out. Lemon Grass, Yakitori Sake house and Sushi Thai before going here.
(1)Jamie C.
Definitely a place for college kids. The sushi is just OK. Not a lot of filling in the rolls surrounded by too much compacted rice. The rolls, and sushi remind me of what you would see at an all you can eat sushi buffet. They say the rolls are half price but they're not all that cheap. Cheaper than other places but the quality matches the price. I guess you get what you pay for. Service was really slow even though the restaurant is tiny. This place was just ok for me.
(3)Chris K.
This place is awesome. People who give it 1 star probably aren't in the right mindset when they arrive. If you want cheap, decent tasting sushi then this place is great. The earlier you show up, the better the service is. The later you show up, the more drunken kids doing sake bombs you'll find.
(4)Monika K.
you gots to be kidding right? I don't care if its 90% off the rolls, ain't no way I'm eating your mushy nasty tuna ever again. shit, I wouldn't even eat it gratis. *barf*
(1)Jamie T.
Yokohama is the best place for good sushi at a great price.. They are cheaper then Ninja Sushi next door and normally have better saki bomb specials next door.
(4)Brandon D.
I bought a Double Deal Coupon for Yokohama Sushi and took my family for lunch @ their location on Glades Road. Very small place with just a few tables. We ordered from the lunch menu and the food was OK. When the time came to pay, we presented the coupon we bought. To my surprise and dismay, they decided NOT to honor the coupon and charged me full price for the lunch items even though we ordered from the lunch menu. We asked the server about why we are being overcharged, she could not give me an answer stating that lunch specials do not qualify for this particular promotion even though it does not say anything on the menu. I feel cheated, violated, disgusted by their false and deceiving advertisement. One thing for sure I will never go back to that place and make sure everyone I know knows about it.
(2)Melissa R.
I love trying new places, but I've eaten at Yokohama Sushi in Mizner about 6 times now, and its been consistently good! haha I like the service a lot - very friendly with just a reliably good experience, comfortable with fair prices. They also offer delivery which is great on busy nights, but the location in Mizner Park is so great that you could just shop around too. Overall, the sushi was fresh, nicely displayed and very good.
(4)Rachel M.
Forgot to share my experience with this sushi place: silly me! Anywho, after one of FAU's football games at Lockhart Stadium, a group of friends decided to head to Boca and grab some sushi... Neither the bf and I like sushi and therefore were willing to respond to the claim of 'The Best Sushi In the Area'... I had the BBQ eel roll and sampled the other rolls around the table... to be fair: Sushi is not my thing... it just isn't... I've tried it and no go... While it wasn't horrible, it felt like I was eating seaweed... Overall: great vibe, perfect location to hang out with some friends who enjoy sushi and therefore receives a check mark in my book... Prices are also fair for the area and the amount that one receives. Who knows, maybe.. just maybe I'll find the right sushi selection and return to try it here!
(3)Stephanie J.
Came here and found either a bone in plastic in my salmon roll. I wasn't hungry after... Told the waitress when she came to pick up plates. They wouldn't remove from the bill.. Had one roll prior. It was only &6 but it was just the principle... I actually now only will go to deerfield location. The staff is a lot better (waitresses) and it's not as packed.
(3)Jacquelyn M.
I went here last night with a friend for dinner. We walked inside, and sat ourselves down as instructed. This restaurant is located next to Mizner Park; which is a beautiful area. Inside was a little small, but it wasn't uncomfortable. We sat down and the waitress came up to us right away with menus. They have half off sushi, which is always a plus. After we placed our order, the food was served fairly quickly. We were in and out of this place within 45 mins to an hour. The food was good, and I did enjoy eating here. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. There wasn't anything that stood out for me. If you are looking for fast sushi that tastes good, then I do recommend at least trying this place.
(3)Arianna N Shaffer S.
Yokohama is an amazing place to come for really cheap sushi...like its all incredibly cheap yet so good! I love getting the sushi with no rice, its wrapped in cucumber which makes me not feel so guilty after eating it because its super healthy yet so delicious and fulfilling. Its a great place to go any time of the day!
(4)Raphae M.
I do have to admit ..the sushi was very good but the service was terrible . Felt as if the place was understaffed. Took about ten to fifteen minutes after we sat down before the waitress even acknowledged us, considering we were the only table there . Anyway I would much rather go to their west boca location as I have been there plenty of times before were there service is far better .
(2)Samantha M.
The lower reviews for this place are pretty accurate. Rolls are okay...not awesome and not the worst. I might've given a little less of a review...and I like to round up. Main things that made the night great were the friends I went with as well as the intimate atmosphere. It looked as though they had a lot of regulars so for others this place is probably great to them. I've just lived in Vegas and had some of the best sushi ever and to me, this didn't compare. These rolls had a ton of rice and not as much fish...and a lot of their rolls are fried. Overall though, the prices were good and the sushi was edible. I ate, I got full, and the fish was fresh.
(3)Jill L.
I'm not sure if it's the half price sushi or the fact that I can be in and out in 30 minutes, but I love Yokohama! During my years at FAU, Yokohama was always a great place to get some good cheap food while in a hurry. The volcano roll and gus rolls are most definitely my favorite. Don't try to use any coupons either from their website or from Restaurant.com because they will not honor their half prices and you'll end up paying more than you would without coupons. Also the deal we always take advantage of is the "Buy 2 Beers, Get 1 Large Sake Free" sake bombs anyone?? Let's be honest, one of their biggest rolls is the volcano roll, which is $6.00... what do you expect to get for a $6.00 sushi roll, obviously it's not going to be the same quality as lemongrass, etc. but hey, for us poor people I won't complain!
(4)Marc Aka Max H.
I'm a fan here more for the vibe of the crowd (and late hours) than the quality of the sushi, and the service is, without doubt, bordering on obnoxious. Sensitive to cultural nuances, I could be concerned that any comment about the sour faced and abrupt waitresses could be misinterpreted, but trust me, these young women either don't know how to be pleasant and smile even 10%, but are just unfriendly and appear unhappy. I dislike using a Restaurant.com voucher because they automatically add a 18 or 20% tip, and frankly, they are not worth 10% tip. The food is acceptable, never got sick, but never walked out saying "yummy". They have lots of FAU students and student look-a-likes, and since I'm a voyeur [hey, I know it and am being honest], I like to "look" while I'm eating. I now seat at the sushi bar, it is interesting to watch the expressions of the cooks, and since they hand me my food, what do I need the waitresses for anyway?
(4)Nando F.
I gave the location across Boca one star, and why did I even bother to find myself at this location? It was a negative experience both in service and food. The server was rude, unfriendly, and very rushy. The food made me tell me friend: "WHY DID YOU DRAG ME HERE?" and for a few moments, we were no longer friends... I've had sashimi in various restaurants and this place in my opinion has the worse. I feel like I'm better off eating canned tuna... I'm NEVER coming here again, or the other location. There are much better sushi places in the area where the staff kicks ass and the food is delicious! Did I mention how our server was rude? -__-
(1)Ivana B.
This place is absolutely disgusting! It doesn't even deserve a star! If you want to eat crappy sushi, then this is the place for you! If sushi is half off everyday at every hour, besides Happy Hour, then there is definitely something wrong! The service is awful and waiters are very rude. If you are thinking of taking a date here, don't expect them to ever call you again after a dining experience of this kind. Overall this place sucks!!! I'll pay full price any day over this place! Half price crap is still crap!!!
(1)June K.
I went to this place a few years ago, but didn't order any sushi. Today I opted for their half priced sushi menu and now I know why it's half priced. The sushi rice had way too much vinegar and it was super sweet. Their rice to filling ratio was off, it had too much rice, which irritated me to high hell. My co-worker order the sushi sashimi combo which was also half priced (usually priced at $26), but i would have NEVER paid full price for that. The sashimi pieces were cut way too thick , so it obviously gives it a different flavor. Even the fish on the nigiri pieces were too big, that had too little rice for the portion of fish. I wouldn't really reccomend this place unless you're on a budget and don't care about how good the sushi really is. Maybe if I didn't order from the half priced menu it would be better? Nah, I don't think so. I'll pass, thanks.
(2)Roxy G.
I love this place I can't understand why it has bad reviews! The prices, quality and service is great and I have been a loyal customers for years. It is not a fancy place but it is quality for sure.
(4)Thais A.
Best part about Yokohama is that the sushi on certain nights is half off. It's the only reason my friends and I keep coming back. The place is very tiny, reminds me of some restaurants in New York. Service is generally very slow but the food is cheap. My favorite roll is the JB Tempura which comes out to about $6 when it's half off. Rolls with only one item in them are super cheap-- $3 but they're not good at all. Essentially if you're looking for some cheap late night sushi, Yokohama is the perfect place.
(2)M W.
If you're on a budget and don't mind small, stuffy, humid, strong fish smelling places - this spot is for you. This place has a tempting sign out front boasting "50% of Sushi", however don't be fooled. As someone who eats sushi 3 - 4 times a week and doesn't mind going to little holes in the wall, this is definitely one hole in the wall I would stay far away from. I say this not only because of the chewy, not-so-fresh sushi, but also because of the dank, uncomfortable atmosphere and the extremely rude lady who runs the place. STAY AWAY!
(1)Pink B.
Went here with a group of friends for a birthday party. We all work in the restauraunt industry, so we know the standard, and WOW what a terrible experience. I got a rainbow roll and the udon noodles. The sushi was GOD awful, and the noodles were slimey and the sauce tasted just like barbque sauce?!!? I'm never going here again, EVER! They were very very rude, put an 18% tip included, didn't refill any of our drinks or check on the table. Stay away from this place!
(1)Mike W.
The worst sushi place in PB County. Unless you come for the half price beer in which case you should drink a bunch before attempting their half price sushi menu. Ever hear the phrase "you get what you pay for"? I tried this place twice to be sure and both times left wondering who could possibly think the sushi here was even mediocre. In short, the fish was just short of it's due date, and the nigiri toppings so thin you can see through them. The rice was unappealing, the rolls menu is full of drunken frat party fare, the people there know nothing about sushi or Japanese food, probably couldn't pick out Japan on a map. Ironically enough the best sushi in this part of Florida is right around the corner at Daimatsu, but somebody keeps spending money keeping these folks in business. Like I said it must be the 1/2 price beer.
(1)John N.
I am Glad to See that Yokohama has bounced back from the fire. The service is better than ever and the new Chef Gong has brought in Miguel is extremely creative like Gong. Sit close to the bar tell him what you like and he will create you something wonderful. I have been going to Yokohama almost since it opened. Amy and I had been looking for good sushi since we relocated from the SF Bay area. Gong picks only the freshest of fish and the service is outstanding. Gong is extremely creative and does a twist on all of the common sushi rolls. The 1/2 price menu is great, but don't miss all of the other great items on the menu. If you like sahimi and spicy order the sushi bar salad, you will thank me.
(5)Mary B.
Food is not good. Small portions. The hot meal was NOT hot, it was warm if that. Waitress was not friendly at all. Even the sushi was not fresh. This place is terrible. Won't be going back -- THIS WAS THE GLADES LOCATION - terrible.
(1)Brad P.
AV Guy Sez : Real nice place, Great prices for Sushi, Lots of half price sushi, Nice service. I would go back for sure. I brought fellow co-workers and they all had great time. We all eat sushi all over the country, not the best but real good.
(4)Darek M.
Things have changed. They can't keep a wait staff in place and the sushi chefs have turned over. Neither measure up. The food and service are both poor. Tonight's tempura roll showed up cold and late only long after I asked about my order. The JB roll was skinny, sloppy, and had a scant bit of cream cheese in it. I have been in a number of times and thought that if I shared a little feedback that the staff would respond but they did not. Avoid this place. You will be disappointed.
(1)Ali G.
My favorite sushi in the nearest 3 towns! Excellent fresh sushi & really nice owner & sushi bar staff. Luv the yokahama roll & dirty girl roll. Great little 1.00 ice-cream treats for dessert. I came here after walking out of Sushi Rays due to the most deplorable attitudes from wait staff, and have been only coming here ever since! Cool place open really late for food.
(5)Jordan R.
Great sushi, CHEAP prices! this is great sush and you can order off the half-price menu and pay 20 bux for 2 ppl! thats a great deal. check this one out!
(4)Rich D.
Very good, very fresh; can't beat the 1/2 price menu.
(4)Richard S.
Drove passed this little place many times and it always looked charming from the road. So when I got a Restaurant.com certificate and Yokohama was one of the choices, it seemed like a good time to try it. The store is small and much smaller inside. It had a dirty, funky quality that reminded me of some really great Japanese dives near 9th Street and Cooper Square in NYC. The crowd was mostly young, high energy and appeared to be enjoying themselves. That's a good sign... right? The prices were on the high range. Their Sexy Lobster Roll was $32. That's 10 clams more than almost everywhere else. Gee, this has got to be great. I ordered it and a California Roll ($7), with edamame ($6) and gyoza ($5) as appetizers. The appetizers were unremarkable but OK. I couldn't wait for the mother of all lobster rolls. I've had this dish at Blue Fin, Lemongrass, Kansai, et al, and it was always a beautiful, opulent full plate presentation. What I got at Yokohama was a puny roll arranged around a large mound of rice with some red stuff sprinkled on top. There were also 2 small pieces of tempura lobster as decoration. Where the other restaurants used the entire lobster in their dishes, Yokohama must be trying to get by with 1/2 the meat. It mostly tasted like off-flavored sushi rice with a little crunchy stuff and a bitter aftertaste. The California was also mostly rice... why? The filler is surely cheap enough. My dinner resembled the feeble efforts of an apprentice sushi chef trying to work without his master. Where did they get the idea that these prices represented their product? They did have a half price menu that brought the items on it more into line with the rest of the Japanese restaurants, but certainly not in quality. Which left me with the question, why were all these people enjoying themselves so much. It couldn't have been the food.

Yokohama Sushi - 50% price - 100% sucks On the rare occasions that my wife and I get to go out for dinner without the kids we love to eat sushi. Sushi is one of those things that people either love or hate. If you are one of those that is not sure whether you will like it or not, make sure the first time you try it, you do not go to Yokohama Sushi. Located on Federal in downtown Boca Raton, Yokohama Sushi is the one with the sign out front that says 1/2 off Sushi. Thankfully the sushi is half price because if it was full price, it would be considered theft. The worst thing you can do to raw fish is to serve it at room temperature. We had the Mexican Roll, the Rainbow Roll, The Sexy Girl Roll, and the shrimp dumplings. At half price the bill was nearly $50.00. The rice was loose and I like it sticky. Instead of crunchy compliments the rolls were one dimensional and mushy. The best part of the whole experience was when we walked in a car full of FAU meat heads told my wife how great her boobs looked as they drove by. They should change the name to Yokohama Sucki.
(1)J B.
Last night (Thursday) I went here around 10:30pm... I usually here because they have 1/2 priced sushi which is actually a good quality. However, the service is a bit slow even though the place is packed. Overall, the place is always a pleasure to go have a quick bite of sushi late night!
(4)Shawn C.
The sushi was just ok when compared with many others, the waitress was non existent and even downright rude when she did manage to appear! To everyone reading this, find another place as it is a bit overpriced for mediocre sushi!
(2)Guil M.
Yokohama is the perfect sushi place for college students. It's got a cool atmosphere (lighting) and the prices are great for the college student budget, which seems to be the type of clientele at which they're aiming. Also, it stays open until 2:00am (except on Sundays), which is great and really rare for a Boca restaurant. It says on their menu that their sushi is "half off," but don't let that fool you-- it's always that price. If it was ever "full price" I doubt anyone would ever return. Granted, the "half off' a decent price for similarly decent sushi. Service is okay-- you can tell it's (semi-)family run but there's nothing special about it. My favorite item on the menu is the Mexican-something-- it's shrimp tempura with avocado and spicy mayo on top. The least favorite item from the menu that I have ordered is their fried rice. The kitchen it ridiculously small and it kinda shares the room with the dining area. The good thing is that it ads a sense of coziness, but the downside is that when they're frying something, the smell/smoke is profuse and can be a little exasperating. Overall, it's a nice, late night hang out spot with decent sushi in a city where everything is mediocre and closes at or before 10:00pm. ps.: Parking is in the back lot and almost impossible to find during busy hours. Also, they really need some new music!! The Michael Jackson on repeat got old after the 3rd visit!
(3)Natasha C.
Tiny, cramped and not good for sushi. With three other sushi bars within walking distance, you'd think they would try harder. Next time, we'll remember to check when the other places open for business.
(1)Alex E.
I come here all the time , the cashier tells me I get a certain amount of sauces for free. When the food is ready for me to pick it up , it's short a few sauces, which the new lady wants to charge me for. I just spent 40 dollars and they nickle and dime me. As a frequent customer I won't be back!
